A Message from the President

Did you know that in 1977 Jimmy Carter became the 39th President of the USA, Bing Crosby died and Concorde made its inaugural flight and East Leake Rugby Club played its first game? I know this as I was playing. I was upset recently as some of our current players had not realised that I had ever played the game! Not only that but I was probably the best No 8 the club ever had.

Back then I never thought that a village club could be as successful as we have been and hope that we will continue to be so. The thrill of winning cups and promotions tempered by the odd relegation is part and parcel of the game. However, the enthusiasm never wanes and spirits remain high. Tough league schedules are always hard but when tours come along to provide a break it makes it all worth while.

Looking forward to another good year and thank you for your support.
